Let's begin our taco search on a positive note, shall we. While I have been to several Mexican joints in DC, I will start the blog with last night's excursion.
By far, Casa Oaxaca has been my favorite DC taco experience. It had a lovely atmosphere, an attentive and friendly staff and, most importantly, fish tacos. Fish tacos may be one of my favorite dishes of all time, so I went out on a limb, ordered them and crossed my fingers that I would still hold a special place in my heart for fish tacos when I left the place.
What I got on my plate was such a delight! Lightly fried turbot fish, with a zesty chipotle tartar sauce on corn tortillas. Boy howdy, they were damn tasty too. While neither I, nor my server, knew what turbot fish was, it was definitely worth trusting the unknown. The dish came with refried black beans, rice and some odd corn/cheese concoction. The beans were the best I've had anywhere in DC. The corn concoction, however, left something to be desired.
While this was not the Tex Mex I so desperately miss, it was yummy interior Mexican. Try it and enjoy!
Stay tuned over the next few weeks as I re-cap my previous DC taco experiences. In the future look for pictures, but until I hit a new spot, we shall be pictureless.
